I had a busy day traversing the steep Eau Claire Gorge Trail, yet I still couldn’t find the right painting conditions.

We arrived back late to camp.  After we ate, I went off to paint the distant hills west of Lake Kioshkokwi.  The softening sky was a distant contrast to the piercing brightness from the past few days of sun and heat.

The night was chilly. CBC North reported that it would go down to 7 degrees Celsius. This is quite a marked difference, though common, for this time of the year in the northern part of Algonquin.
