Painting No.1 Evening, Lake Kioshkokwi
I went out this evening after dinner, down to the trestle at the east end of Kioshkokwi (Lake of Gulls). The light appeared clearer up there; and the colours, while softening to shades of pastel, kept a kind of solidity found only in PreCambrian Shield landscapes. I painted the hills bathed in the light of the waning sun.
It was a hectic day. We drove 29 km into the bush to the Kiosk access point. The site at the lake was great, the atmosphere tranquil – perfect!
